On Sunday, Feb. 3. the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens went head to head in New Orleans during the 2013 NFL Championship, Super Bowl XLVII. Baltimore hunkered down in front of their big screen TV’s with their friends and family also preparing for a battle. They chanted Seven Nation Army and shouted insults at the referees and 49ers fans as they watched their beloved and deserving Ravens fight for every yard the way only Baltimore fans have known they could always do. The Ravens beat the 49ers 34 -31 and the moment the final play of the game ate up the remaining 4 seconds on the clock Baltimore City exploded with joy, relief, pride, and every other possible emotion as men, women, and yes even some children came pouring out of their houses and bars in Federal Hill and into the streets. Champagne was sprayed, car horns were honked, and people were crowd surfing. Cars were vandalized, street lights were climbed, and complete strangers hugged each other in the middle of Charles St. all the while the steady Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh of Seven Nation Army pulsing through the air. The Baltimore Ravens Win! The Baltimore Ravens Win!
